Regardless of where the test was run the results speak for themselves. Aren't there mountains in Germany. Get on it BMW and Mercedes one of you is in our rear view mirror the other were hot on your heals. Good job Ford USA. Proud and happy owner of a MKS.

Lincoln is discontinuing the TownCar platform and I believe they would like to eliminate the V8 as an option for the newer, smaller platforms they need to market in it's place. They need to convince their customers (including limousine customers) that this platform can do the job with a turbo-V6. Ford approached the magazines about the idea of a competition against large-bodied luxury cars that everyone could recognize so that Ford could prove to the public this is a viable idea. To their credit, Automobile Magazine did not print any of the material and indicated that it was considered an advertisement (loosley) and it would require a separate website. The whole exercise seems to have done what Ford wanted. It seems to have begun a dialogue about their new smaller platform car vs the larger European competition. The fact that many here who have commented seem to feel it was unfair as it was a hillclimb at high altitude is just icing on the cake. Imagine a couple years ago, someone saying a hillclimb (anywhere on Earth) with Mercedes and BMW V8's vs a Lincoln turbo V6 would be unfair. Laughable. Not anymore. Nearly half the comments indicate this opinion. Lincoln seems to have proven their point with room to spare. Good for them!

we just traded in a 750 li bmw which is an amazing car to drive, but we needed more room. We bought a flex with ecoboost. Driving through the hills and in traffic even with the cruise on is very impressive. The rolling hills going to our home dont even make the flex down shift which almost all other cars we have owned did. Acceleration in traffic on flat ground is very impressive. Car drives and handles better than the X5 bmw we used to own as well.

The mark 7 ( i have one ) were terrific cars, as well as the innovative mark 8.
these cars had air suspen, abs and FI , composite lights, when most average cars had rear drum brakes no abs, carbs etc. look at the sales #'s. then linoln shot itself in the foot w/ the ls in 2000. good underpinnings but a bore to look at.
the mks too small- insuff power-boring looks( a mazda 6 better buy ) now w/ the LS-- maybe lincoln can come back. People who but lux/sport cars want v8 power. I think mks should offer as option, the 5.4 navigator engine w/cylinder managment for v-6 mileage at crusing. twin turbo engines are a maintenance nightmare.
