VTengineer: Really? You call yourself an "engineer?" More like a parrot. There is no way that those engines lost 35-40% You're just repeating something you read somewhere. Admit it. Lincoln probably lost around 12%. Others lost around 20% Lincoln was heavier. And has less HP. So the field was pretty balanced IMO. And sure a Lincoln isn't crafted like a Maserati but it costs half as much. Everyone needs to do the math here....and not on their fingers and toes.

i dont understand the point of this comparison...is anyone out there really cross-shopping a maserati or the other 3 cars with the lincoln?...let's forget for a moment this is a rigged test due the altitude/turbocharer factor....let's assume lincoln came in #1 with some great new technology, i dont think the avergae consumer would be swayed because lincoln came in 2 seconds quicker or reached a higher top speed. are these real world situations? no. Lincoln (and GM) need to build a high end sedan along the lines of the 7 series and S class so that they gain some credibility in the luxury market, Consumers taht are buying luxury cars are more interested in the prestige than the perfromance in my humble opinion. whether or not ford or gm have the capital to begin such a journey is a problem in and of itself. id like to run GM so i can straighten out their product lineup. cadillac should only produve cars the class of mercedes S, CL, SL, G (so it would be like a maserati of sorts) and buick should be left to deal with the mainstream models. and last but not least americans SHOULD buy american cars. ( i drive M6)

WOW!
Congratulations Lincoln.
It's great seeing an AMERICAN Car Company in a positive light.
Thanks AUTOMOBILE and Motor Trend for sharing.
Go USA!

This test proves ABSOLUTELY nothing. The fact that Ford is trying to use this to prove anything at all is completely ridiculous. The other cars in the competition were naturally aspirated. The MKS was twin turbocharged. At 12,000 feet, a naturally aspirated motor (a motor without an altitude compensator, such a turbocharged) would only be producing APPROXIMATELY 60-65% of its available horsepower. The MKS is the only car that would still produce close to all of its power at 12,000 feet because of the altitude compensator(s) on its motor (turbochargers). Therefore this test proves nothing at all.
